My Book Review of IT’S WATCHING, by New York Times Bestselling author Lindsay Currie!

I have read my fair share of creepy middle-grade books, but I must admit, no story has made me feel quite as scared as when reading, IT’S WATCHING, by NYT and USA Today bestselling author Lindsay Currie! Lindsay pulls out all the stops to create the perfect chilling middle-grade tale. I was first introduced to Lindsay’s writing when I read THE MYSTERY OF LOCKED ROOMS, an Instant New York Times Bestseller, and IT’S WATCHING is just as suspenseful and page-turning a story, but I’d say Lindsay took IT’S WATCHING to an even more nail-biting level! I IT'S WATCHING should be on the top of all spooky horror lovers’ radars. A phenomenal read! 10/10!

THE JFK CONSPIRACY: THE SECRET PLOT TO KILL KENNEDY―AND WHY IT FAILED by the New York Times Bestselling authors Brad Meltzer and Josh Mensch is a fascinating deep dive into a lesser known, yet highly detailed assassination plan to take the life of President elect John F. My Review of Jay'Aina (Jay Jay) Patton's Graphic Memoir DEAR DAD

Graphic memoirs are oftentimes the most interesting and thought-provoking books I come across. I love learning about the authors’ personal lives and experiences. And, DEAR DAD, GROWING UP WITH A PARENT IN PRISON- AND HOW WE STAYED CONNECTED,  is a powerful coming-of-age graphic novel memoir that shares how Jay Jay Patton's life was impacted growing up with a parent in prison. DEAR DAD is Jay Jay Patton's empowering tale brought to life by Jay Jay, along with Kiara Valdez and Markia Jenai! It is a story of how Jay Jay and her dad were able to develop a powerful father/daughter bond and create Photo Patch -- a life-changing application that connects children to incarcerated parents. Because, as Jay Jay says: "it's not a privilege for a kid to be able to talk to their parent. It's a right." Watch my review and be sure to read DEAR DAD! 5 STAR REVIEW   Title: "Dear Dad: Growing Up with a Parent in Prison -- and How We Stayed Connected"  Author: Jay'Aina (Jay Jay) Patton (Author), Antoine Patton (Author),  Illustrator: Kiara Valdez  Publisher: Graphix, a Scholastic imprint Book Review: Ethan (E Train)

This is my book review of THE FIRST CONSPIRACY: THE SECRET PLOT TO KILL GEORGE WASHINGTON by New York Times Bestselling authors Brad Meltzer and Josh Mensch. THE FIRST CONSPIRACY is a fantastic read that shares a piece of American history that's not often taught in the classrooms or examined in textbooks. THE FIRST CONSPIRACY is filled with intriguing stories about our nation's first president, George Washington, and includes events leading up to the early beginnings of the CIA and counterintelligence. A compelling, fast-paced read that's based on real events, research, and a bit of intuition. The story shares declassified documents and letters that push readers to think deeper and question more. My Book Review of RADIANT, A Historical Fiction Novel In Verse by Vaunda Micheaux Nelson!

There is so much to love about RADIANT, a deeply moving middle-grade book by Coretta Scott King Award Winner, Vaunda Micheaux Nelson. The author takes us back to 1963, a pivotal year in the Civil Rights Movement, and in general a scary time for the black community. The pages bring us to Pittsburgh, to a primarily white suburb, where we meet our main character Cooper Dale.  Filled with historical, social, and political knowledge and references, Vaunda's words take young readers back in time and paints a vivid picture of what it would be like to live in Cooper's world, a world of a young black girl trying to shine her light in a time where many are determined to dim it, but Cooper, like the title suggests, finds a way! A profoundly meaningful tale that inspires kindness and reminds us that things aren't always as they appear, and there's almost always more to the story. 10/10!

UNSTUCK by award-winning middle-grade author Barbara Dee is a complex and remarkable read. A story that perfectly celebrates all the middle-grade themes we know and love, like friendship and family, plus an intertwining of the many emotions middle-schoolers go through. An important lesson that the main character, Lyla learns throughout UNSTUCK is that adapting is key in both writing, and in this game we call life. As an aspiring author & a middle-grader, I saw myself in Lyla across the pages of Barbara Dee’s extremely compelling and heartwarming book! My Bookish Thoughts on “LINKED” by Author Gordon Korman

Nothing special ever happens in Chokecherry, Colorado, And,

With themes of tolerance, acceptance & combating antisemitism, LINKED is the perfect book to REMIND US TO ALWAYS REMEMBER AND NEVER FORGET!
