I love talking with kids about books, and it’s amazing when I have the chance to connect with students on a deeper level about the stories we love.
I spent the day sharing picture book read alouds and giving out new books to kids at Fiarytale Town! It was a day filled with so many smiles! I'm proud to serve my community and plan to continue spreading the magic of reading to children throughout Sacramento and beyond!
I Spent an August summer day giving over 600 new children’s books to underserved children in the Sacramento area. Over 1500 people signed up to attend Sacramento Mayor McCarty and Vice Mayor Talamantes’ Annual Backpack Giveaway ! It was incredible watching so many organizations come together to give back to low-income families in the community! I’m honored to be among so many kind & generous leaders! Thanks to the City of Sacramento for helping organize such a wonderful event! I will always give back to the Sacramento community. I will ALWAYS do good! Not every child in Sacramento has access to quality reading material. I’m trying to change that. Thank you to all the writers, authors, publishers & book friends who’ve donated to my nonprofit, you make all this giving possible! And, a special thank you to SMUD for sponsoring wonderful giveaway items! Kids especially love the environmentally friendly seed filled bookmarks!
It was wonderful celebrating READ ACROSS AMERICA by reading stories to these amazing 2nd graders! So many book smiles were shared!
The best part of my literacy journey is reading aloud to classrooms of kids! There's no better way to inspire children to discover the magic books! Celebrating early literacy is how I inspire positive change! Every path starts with literacy and reading!

Percy Jackson is a fan favorite! Every grade I visit loves talking about the Percy Jackson series & how fantastic it is that kids save the world! Kids can really do anything they set their minds to! I'd love to talk to your students about being a change maker!

ONLINE SAFETY PROGRAM
Internet safety touches on many important issues! From cyber security to cyber bullying to identity theft and more, staying safe online and on our phones is critical! To date, I've blocked over 750 inappropriate accounts on my social media platforms! To help spread the word about online safety, I’m visiting middle-school classrooms & sharing author Jessica Speer's fun, relatable, and relevant book, THE PHONE BOOK: STAY SAFE, BE SMART, AND MAKE THE WORLD BETTER WITH THE POWERFUL DEVICE IN YOUR HAND! This program is being made possible with the help of the generous grant I was awarded by LET’S CHOOSE LOVE, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to bringing more love into the world & by Familius. I’m so grateful!
Sharing stories and reading aloud to kindergartners at a Title One school brought the kids and me so much book joy! I am so grateful to be able to visit classrooms and talk about my reading journey & inspire other kids to begin their own reading adventures!
Reading to 1st graders HAIR LOVE and giving each student their own copy to take home was the best! I'm so proud to be able to promote early literacy and share reading smiles with kids!
