E Train Talks, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by Ethan when he was just 11-years-old, making him one of the youngest literacy advocates to start a nonprofit. Now 15, Ethan is an award-winning literacy advocate committed to celebrating early literacy and inspiring a lifelong love of reading in all children. Ethan leads the charge for early literacy by donating books and reading to kids at hospitals, schools, and events. In the United States today, millions of children enter school without the reading skills needed to thrive, and children from low income families are far less likely to have access to quality books. To date, E Train Talks has donated over 8,000 new books to kids who need them most.
I love talking with kids about books, and it’s amazing when I have the chance to connect with students on a deeper level about the stories we love.
I spent the day at Fairytale Town reading picture books aloud and distributing new books to children. It was a joy to see so many smiles and witness the excitement of young readers. I am proud to serve my community and remain committed to spreading the magic of reading to children throughout Sacramento and beyond.
On a warm August day, I was honored to participate in a Sacramento literacy fair where we gave away over 600 brand new children’s books to families in need. More than 1,500 community members gathered for Mayor McCarty and Vice Mayor Talamantes’ Annual Backpack Giveaway, showing the power of a city coming together for its children. Not every child in Sacramento has access to quality reading material, and I am committed to helping change that. I am deeply grateful to the authors, publishers, and partners who make this work possible, with special thanks to SMUD for donating thoughtful giveaway items that brought extra joy to the kids. Giving back to Sacramento will always be at the heart of what I do.

To celebrate READ ACROSS AMERICA, I had the incredible opportunity to read stories aloud to several classrooms of enthusiastic 2nd graders! Their excitement and curiosity made every session unforgettable, and it was such a joy to share the magic of storytelling with so many bright young minds.

The best part of my literacy journey is reading to kids! There's no better way for children to discover the magic of books! Celebrating early literacy is how I inspire positive change!

One of the most unforgettable moments of my journey was leading a school-wide assembly for over 500 Skokie School middle-schoolers, where I got to share the magic of books with such an eager, enthusiastic audience. The energy in that room was electric as we explored how books can open doors to new worlds. I’ll forever treasure the connections made that day and the inspiration we shared. A huge thank you to Skokie for making it all possible!
I was honored to visit Skokie School, where students, teachers, and staff welcomed me with such kindness. The students asked fantastic questions, and I was excited to record this video sharing some of my answers. I have met so many incredible people on my reading journey, and I am deeply grateful. Books truly have the power to change lives. Thank you to everyone at Skokie School for making my visit so memorable!
Percy Jackson is a fan favorite! Every grade I visit get's so excited talking about the Percy Jackson series! Talking with kids about books is one of the best parts of my literacy journey!

Internet safety is such an important topic, from cyber security and cyberbullying to identity theft and more. Learning how to stay safe online and on our phones is essential! So far, I’ve blocked over 1,500 inappropriate accounts on my social media platforms. To help spread the message, I’m visiting middle-school classrooms and sharing Jessica Speer’s fun, relatable, and engaging book, THE PHONE BOOK: STAY SAFE, BE SMART, AND MAKE THE WORLD BETTER WITH THE POWERFUL DEVICE IN YOUR HAND. This program is possible thanks to a generous grant from Let’s Choose Love, a nonprofit dedicated to spreading more love in the world, and the support of Familius. I’m so grateful for their help in empowering students to use technology safely.
